GENERAL WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

• Always check the care label first - specific instructions take precedence over general guidelines.
• Machine wash in cold water with similar colors using a mild detergent.
• Avoid fabric softeners as they can degrade performance features of technical fabrics.
• Turn garments inside out before washing to protect the outer surface.
• Zip up all zippers and fasten all buttons and hooks to prevent snagging.
• Wash technical garments separately from regular clothes, especially cotton items which can leave lint.
• Air dry when possible, or tumble dry on low heat.
• Remove items promptly from the dryer to minimize wrinkles.

SPECIALTY FABRIC CARE

Waterproof/Breathable Fabrics

• Periodically clean waterproof/breathable garments to maintain their performance.
• Use a technical cleaner specifically designed for waterproof/breathable fabrics.
• After cleaning, reapply a durable water repellent (DWR) treatment when water no longer beads on the surface.
• Tumble dry on low heat after applying DWR to activate the treatment.

Down Insulation

• Use a cleaner specifically formulated for down garments.
• Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
• Tumble dry on low heat with several clean tennis balls to restore loft.
• Allow plenty of drying time - down takes longer to dry than synthetic materials.
• Never compress wet down - always ensure it's completely dry before storing.

Synthetic Insulation

• Wash with a technical cleaner or mild detergent.
• Rinse thoroughly to remove all detergent.
• Tumble dry on low heat to restore loft.
• Avoid fabric softeners which can reduce insulating properties.

STAIN REMOVAL TIPS

Treat stains promptly for best results:

Oil-Based Stains (sunscreen, food oils, etc.)

• Blot excess oil with a clean, absorbent cloth.
• Apply a small amount of dish soap directly to the stain.
• Gently rub with a soft brush or cloth.
• Rinse thoroughly and wash according to care instructions.

Mud and Dirt

• Allow mud to dry completely.
• Brush off as much dried mud as possible.
• Pre-treat any remaining stains with a stain remover.
• Wash according to care instructions.

Beverage Stains

• Blot the stain immediately with a clean cloth.
• Rinse with cold water from the back of the stain.
• Pre-treat with a stain remover or mild detergent.
• Wash according to care instructions.

STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS

• Always clean garments before long-term storage.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• Hang outerwear and structured garments on wide, padded hangers.
• Fold knitwear and lightweight items to prevent stretching.
• Avoid storing compressed in stuff sacks for extended periods.
• Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets instead of mothballs to deter insects.
